Unity Hospice Receives Grant

For the second consecutive year, Unity Hospice has been chosen as a recipient of funds from the 2015 Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer. The grant in the amount of $11,000 will fund Doorstep Meds, Unity’s Medication Delivery Program which provides convenience and relief to patients and their caregivers as necessary medications and supplies are delivered right to their door.

“We at Unity are so grateful to all of the participants in the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer for their support of Unity and our medication delivery program. A large part of the program’s success is a result of Unity’s dedicated volunteers who deliver medications to these families. There is an increasing number of area residents battling advanced illness who are unable to get to a pharmacy. Many of these people do not have the ability to leave their homes and many caregivers are unable to leave their loved one home alone. Funding such as this from the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer helps ensure patients and families can receive the medications needed,” said Development Director Diana Butz.

The Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, a motorcycle ride to benefit cancer patients and families throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, presented checks totaling $135,000 to 10 local cancer support organizations at Vandervest Harley-Davidson.
