Waniger School Open in Southern Door

The Southern Door Archives Group announces the newly restored one-room schoolhouse, Waniger School, will be open to the public on Saturdays in July and August from 12 – 3 pm.

Waniger School, built in 1882, was originally located on County C in Southern Door near Salem Lutheran Church. It was donated to the Archives Group by the Randy Weckler Family in 2008, relocated and completely restored as authentically as possible.

The public is invited to visit the Historic Waniger School to see what education in Southern Door County was like 100 years ago.

Waniger School is now located in front of the Southern Door Elementary School on County Road DK near Renard’s Cheese Store.
