What’s Coming Up in Door County?

A change in the fuel used at Door County’s hot mix asphalt plant will save the county’s highway department $124,757 a year and allow the county to provide cheaper paving services. The County Board voted at its Dec. 11 meeting to allow the plant to switch over from propane to natural gas, which is a less expensive fuel. The change will require a gas line to be extended about four miles out of Sturgeon Bay to the asphalt plant. The $151,000 extension will be paid for by borrowing money from the County Roads and Bridges Fund.

At its next meeting on Jan. 8, the Ephraim Village Board will discuss changing the Direct Sellers and Service Vendors ordinance to a Transient Merchants ordinance. Other proposed amendments to the ordinance include changing registration requirements, eliminating rules about prohibited practices and eliminating the definition of service vendor.

At a public hearing on January 9, 2012 the Ephraim Village Board will discuss amending an ordinance that requires village marinas to have a parking spot per slip.
