What’s Coming Up in Door County?

• The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) warns car shoppers of a potential influx of flood-damaged cars into the used car market, thanks to Hurricane Sandy. After Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf region in 2005, Wisconsin and other states saw more flood-damaged vehicles on the market.

To protect yourself, the DOT recommends checking vehicle histories online through the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System. Also, check for flood damage before purchasing a car. Signs of flood damage include a musty smell, water-spotted upholstery, dirty tail lights, silt around the air filter, discolored or painted hood insulation, brittle wiring or rust in unexpected places.

For more information, contact the Department of Motor Vehicles Bureau of Vehicle Services.

• On Jan. 9 at 3 pm, the Sister Bay Parks Committee may discuss allowing transient vendors to set up at Waterfront Park. The agenda was not finalized as of press time, but can be found on the village website, at the village office or by calling 920.854.4118.
