Zabler Design Features 4th Century BC Coin Jewelry

Imagine touching and holding a silver drachm of Alexander the Great, which he may have used to pay his legions of men around 336 to 323 B.C. Russ Zabler, owner of Zabler Design Jewelers in Ephraim, became inspired by that experience.

Zabler, direct from his research trip to Italy and Greece, will feature the Alexander the Great coins he has incorporated into his original jewelry. The public is invited to join him in celebrating the rich history these coins represent on Sunday, July 27.

Not only does Zabler Design have coins from the time of Alexander the Great, but also from the time of Jesus Christ. Bronze Judean prutahs were struck between A.D. 4 to 29, circulating while Jesus Christ and his disciples were in Judea. Other biblical coins referenced by Christ in the Bible include the silver denarius struck by Tiberus in A.D. 14 called the tribute “penny” and the bronze “widow’s mite.”

Applying decades of experience as a jeweler, Zabler has transformed these portals of the past into a wearable art form. Rings, pendants, cuff links, earrings, and key rings for both men and women become a framework to enjoy the artifacts of antiquity.

“To be able to hold, wear, or carry with you an actual piece of the roots of Western civilization is a moving experience,” stated Zabler.
