Bird Sanctuary Open to Guests Feb. 12

Enjoy the beauty of winter and meet birds of prey during Open Door Bird Sanctuary’s (ODBS) Winter Open Days Feb. 12 and March 12, 11 am – 3 pm.

Also enjoy the trails for a snowshoe, hike or cross-country ski. (Provide your own equipment.)

The three trails provide about two miles of prairie, hardwood and pine forest to explore. The trails are not typically open to the public outside of sanctuary hours, so this is a great chance to explore a new spot and visit ODBS’s raptor residents.

“Our birds don’t think twice about the colder temperatures or snow – they are wearing down jackets,” said Jillaine Seefeldt, ODBS development volunteer and board member. “During the course of the day, handlers will be out with various birds, so you have the chance to have up-close contact, and it’s fun to see the sanctuary from a whole different perspective.”

After exploring, warm up by the bonfire with a hot beverage. Entry is $10 for adults, $7 for ages 5-12, and free for ages 5 and younger.

Can’t make the February or March dates? ODBS, 4114 Cty I in Jacksonport, will host Open Days throughout the year for guests to explore and learn more about its mission.
