Classes and Events at Artists Guild

The September session of Life Drawing Guild begins Sept. 3 and runs for the following three Tuesdays from 6:15 – 8:15 pm. Participants draw or paint from a live model for a total fee of $40 (or $20 to drop in for one evening). Artists work without instruction and bring their own materials. High school and college students pay $8 an evening (parental permission required for those under 18).

“Bottle & Brush” meets Sept. 5, 6:15 – 8:15 pm. Artist Jen Aldrich guides students through simple step-by-step instructions in creating their own acrylic paintings on canvas. Cost is $35 and includes all materials.

A free demo called “Acrylics from A to Z” with Sandra Bacon of Golden Artist Colors takes place Sept. 6, 1 – 3:30 pm. Her examples will show how acrylics can simulate oil and watercolor with more versatility.

On Sept. 7, 9 am – 12 pm, Bacon will present “Revisiting ‘Open’: Glazing, Blending and Plein Air in Acrylic.” Golden “open” acrylics have a slow drying time, which expands possibilities for artists. The class, open to all skill levels, is $50.

Sept. 9 marks the beginning of the new fall schedule for Youth Art Classes. Sessions include: Art Play, ages 5 – 8, Mondays 3 – 4:30 pm; Exploring Art, ages 9 – 12, Tuesdays 3 – 5 pm; and Afternoon Art Teen Studio, ages 13 – 15, Thursdays 3 – 5 pm.

Open Studio is available on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm. Artists pay $20 per day.

Pre-registration is required for the classes and demo. Artists Guild is located at 215 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. To register, call 920.743.9900 or visit Artists-Guild.com.
