Classes and Events at Artists Guild

“Back to School” means new art opportunities for young and old at Artists Guild.

Weekly after school Youth Art Programs begin Sept. 16. “Art Play,” for ages 5 – 8, meets Mondays from 3 – 4:30 pm for $25/class. “Exploring Art,” for ages 9 – 12, meets Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm for $30/class and “Teen Studio,” ages 13 – 18, meets Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 pm for $30/class. The topic for the Sept. 16 and 17 classes is “Veggie Print Wraps.” Instructor Sarah Bradley will show the students how to make prints by dipping cross-sections of vegetables in paint. The teens’ topic for Sept. 19 is “Who Am I? (Self-Portraits).”

Youth Art Classes that go more in-depth also meet once a month, starting Sept 14. The same times, costs and topics listed above apply on that day.

“Bottle & Brush” continues on Thursdays from 6:15 – 8:15 pm. Artist Jen Aldrich guides students through step-by-step instructions in creating acrylic paintings on canvas. Participants are encouraged to bring beverages and snacks. The cost is $35/student and includes all materials.

The monthly “Art Speak” session begins Sept. 21 with “Urban Art: Why Is It Important to a Community?” from 10 am – 12 pm. Aldrich will look at how graffiti and public art projects can help revive a community from decay and decline. This program is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration is required for the paid classes. Artists Guild is located at 215 N. Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920-743-9900 or visit Artists-Guild.com.
