Classes at Artists Guild

The July 30 session of Tuesdays with Jen at Artists Guild in Sturgeon Bay is titled “Making a Cement Keepsake Garden Stone.” The class meets from 10 am – 12 pm, and costs $25 per person. Artist Jen Aldrich will lead students through designing and creating a garden stepping-stone. Students may bring their own objects and ideas.

The popular Bottle & Brush meets on August 1, 6:15 – 8:15 pm. Aldrich will guide students through simple step-by-step instructions in creating an acrylic painting. Students may bring a beverage to enjoy. Cost is $35 per student.

Youth Art classes for August 2 are about “Bread Dough Painting” for the younger two sessions and “One-Line Abstract Watercolor” for teens. Instructor and artist Sarah Bradley will show students how to create a fresco-like material out of bread and glue. Teens will work with India ink and watercolors in the manner of Paul Klee to make unique paintings.

Youth classes are held Fridays in the summer from 9:30 – 11 am (ages 5 – 8), 12 – 2 pm (ages 9 – 12), and 3 – 5 pm (ages 13 – 15). Cost is $25 per student for the morning class and $30 for the afternoon classes.

“Drawing Essentials,” taught by Bradley, starts on Aug. 4 and continues Aug. 11 & 18, 12 – 2 pm. Value, proportion, line quality, texture, contour and gesture will all be explored through a series of challenging exercises. Cost is $30 for all 3 sessions with a small materials list required.
