DCU Boys Swimmers 4th at Conference Meet

The Door County United (DCU) cooperative boys swimming team won three events and finished runner-up in two others Saturday when DCU placed fourth out of six teams at the conference meet in Chilton.

Chiton won the team title with 91 points, followed by Plymouth (86), Two Rivers (81), DCU (73), Kiel (52) and Berlin (36).

“The spread between first and fourth is only 18 points, roughly the point value of a single relay race,” said DCU head coach Erin Peterson. “Those are pretty tight margins, especially given our status as a relatively young team.”

DCU’s 200-yard medley relay team of Race Kasten, Jack Monfils, Colton Blackley and  Logan Filar placed first with a season-best time of 1 minute, 46 seconds.

Monfils placed first in two individual events with season-best times in the 200 individual medley (2:07.2) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.5).

Kasten added a pair of runner-up finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.46) and 100 backstroke (58.18).

DCU’s other top-three finish was recorded by Ezra Linnan, Branden Neubauer, Tre Wienke and Monfils placing third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.48).

Up next for DCU is the WIAA Division 1 sectional next Saturday at Neenah.

“I’m looking forward to some big swims next [Saturday],” Peterson said.
