Door County Humane Society Raises $110,000 During Saving Pets Challenge

After a month of fundraising, the Michelson Found Animals Saving Pets Challenge came to a close on June 1 and the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) came in sixth place and raised more than $110,000 online and another $1,000 offline for their cause. This challenge consisted of hundreds of animal welfare organizations, all competing to see who could raise the most money for their cause in an allotted time.

“While we did not place in the top five, it is phenomenal that we were able to surpass our monetary goal [of $100,000]. Being up against huge shelters located in Houston and LA certainly made this a difficult competition. Still, we were able to hold our own, amply represent our state of Wisconsin, and show the nation what little Door County is truly made of. We cannot thank the Door County community enough for their generosity and support. DCHS received almost 400 donations to the Challenge. Without your backing we could not have raised these funds. This truly demonstrates that many people in the peninsula continue to care about our organization and animals. Once again, thank you to everyone who donated to the Challenge and helped support the many animals that call DCHS home,” stated DCHS Executive Director Carol Boudreau.
