Eagles Soar Past Vikings in Boys Hoops

Gibraltar’s boys basketball team jumped out to an early lead Friday on the three-point shooting of Liam Lindenberg, who made four baskets behind the arc to account for the Vikings’ first 12 points, before Southern Door took control of the Packerland Conference contest past the midway point of the first half.

Gibraltar committed multiple turnovers as the Eagles took a 32-20 lead at halftime and went on to defeat the Vikings, 66-45, in Fish Creek.

Southern Door’s Drew Daoust scored 17 of his game-high 27 points in the first half. Matthew Malvitz added 13 points, with Tyler Neinas scoring 11 more.

Lindenberg, who ended up making six three-pointers, and Braden Sitte led Gibraltar with 18 points apiece.

The Eagles, who improved to 6-4 overall and 5-0 in the Packerland, play a non-conference game Monday at Denmark before hosting Friday’s Packerland matchup against conference co-leader Kewaunee.

The Vikings (3-7, 1-5) play a non-conference game Tuesday at Menominee, Michigan, before their next Packerland contest Friday at Sturgeon Bay.
