New Season Begins

Wingra Woodwind Quintet

Door Concerts, Inc., formerly known as Door County Community Concerts, Inc., was organized more than 30 years ago in Sturgeon Bay by Gustave (Gus) Abrahamson. In 2012 the nonprofit gained a new board of directors and Door Concerts, Inc. was revitalized.

The organization’s goal is to introduce young people and people of all ages in Door County to world class musicians and performers. All music students who reside in Door County are admitted free to all concerts in their series.

For the first time in its history, Door Concerts, Inc. will present six concerts at a single adult membership cost of $50 and will hold dinner concerts. A family membership of $100 will admit a family of two parents and all minor children, as well as all children who are full time students (regardless of age).

Door Concerts started its season with Hans Christian on Sept. 20. Remaining concerts are below:

Wingra Woodwind Quintet: Friday, Oct. 24, 7 pm, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay.

Wisconsin Brass Quintet: Sunday, Nov. 16, 12:30 pm brunch and 2 pm concert, The Olde Opera House, 23 W. Oak St., Sturgeon Bay.

Pro Arte Quartet: Thursday, Jan. 29, pre-concert dinner at 5:30 pm, concert at 7 pm, The Olde Opera House, 23 W. Oak St., Sturgeon Bay.

Tammy Naze: Sunday, Feb. 22, 12 pm brunch and 2 pm concert, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay.

Johannes Wallmann Jazz Ensemble: Friday, April 10, pre-concert dinner at 5:30 pm and concert at 7 pm, The Olde Opera House, 23 W. Oak St., Sturgeon Bay.

The dinner concerts at The Olde Opera House will have a special dinner price of $20 for evening performances, and a price of $12 for the afternoon performances that includes a dinner and a non-alcoholic drink. Those who want to combine the dinner or brunch and concert, should call The Olde Opera House in advance at 920.743.6040. Those who do not want to have a pre-concert meal do not need to call in advance. Details of the dinner and brunch will be provided.
