Obituary: Robert Joseph Macatee

March 21, 1958 – Jan. 19, 2024

Robert Joseph Macatee, age 65 of the Town of Nasewaupee, died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at his home.

Robert was born on March 21, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Walter and Catherine (Scherer) Macatee. He graduated from Fr. Judge High School in Philadelphia. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force Reserves and attended Penn State University studying Electrical Engineering. On Oct. 12, 1985, Robert was united in marriage to Nancy Ann O’Riordan at St. Martin of Tours in Philadelphia. He worked as a field engineer for Memorex Telex from 1982-1991, then Bell Atlantic Business Systems (Verizon) where he was the head of Y2K switching until 2010, and currently worked at Walmart.

Robert and his close family and friends often referred to him as a “computer nerd”, because of his love for computers and electronics. He also enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Nancy; daughter, Julie (Ryan) Neuchter of Little Sturgeon; son, Joseph “Joey” Macatee; grandsons, August and Beau Neuchter; sisters, Cecelia (William) Dieken [and their children, Rachel, Mathew and Jessica], Judy (Charles) Conway [and their children, Genevieve, Megan, and Andrew], and Kathy Macatee; brothers, Walter (Sue) Macatee [and their children, Shaun, Christopher, and Ryan] and Henry (May) Macatee [and their children, Henry Jr., Victoria, and Katelyn]; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial mass is being planned for Robert in June of 2024 in Philadelphia.
