Peninsula School of Art Announces Juried Award Winners

Trevor Knapp, of Green Bay, received Best of Show in the “Making Our Mark” juried student exhibition at Peninsula School of Art for his linoleum relief cut print, “Saturday Midnight Drive.”

Awards were announced at the opening reception for the student juried exhibition, “Making Our Mark,” on Aug. 23 at Peninsula School of Art.

Best of Show was awarded to Trevor Knapp, of Green Bay, for his linoleum relief cut print entitled, “Saturday Midnight Drive.” Knapp said that this surreal work was inspired by an especially vivid dream.

Second Place was received by Kay Helms, of Mankato, Minn., for her untitled digital black-and-white photographic print. The print provides a dramatic close-up view of a famer’s weathered hand opening a latch on a barn door.

Third Place was awarded to Mac Schuppert, of Sturgeon Bay, for her brilliantly colored pastel painting of a grove of trees.

Margaret Plotkin, of Mequon, received an Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting of a whimsical farm scene entitled, “A Stroll Through the Barnyard.”

The awards and the 75 pieces that comprise the exhibition were selected by jurors and Peninsula School of Art instructors, Bonnie Paruch, Bren Sibilsky and Dan Anderson.

The pieces will be on view and for sale through October 5. Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 County F in Fish Creek.
