Plum Island Guided Tours

Pack a picnic and spend a day on scenic Plum Island with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands as they offer guided, interpretive tours of the island’s natural habitat and historic maritime structures on Aug. 18.

Visitors can hike Plum Island’s trails, climb the Rear Range Lighthouse, spend time kayaking around the island and even snorkel the wreck Grape Shot (visitors must bring their own snorkeling gear).

Shoreline Charters will sponsor two trips to and from Plum Island, with a limit of 16 people per trip. Call 920.421.0922 to reserve a spot. There is an 8:30 am trip from Gills Rock and a 9:30 am trip from Detroit Harbor on Washington Island. Timing is weather dependent, and both tours will return around 4-4:30 pm.

Island Adventure Company on Washington Island is offering half off on full-day kayak rentals. Call 920.421.4563 to reserve a kayak by Aug. 13.
