Run Will Benefit Go Bo Foundation

While the event is a good six months away, it’s not too early to start thinking of Treatment Trail 2014, a 200-mile, nine-day trail run honoring a pair of spirited, strong and fearless Door County youths – Bo Johnson and Christopher Lorona – who fought life-threatening illnesses while traveling hundreds of miles to receive care and treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa.

The June 14-22 run will benefit the GO BO Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW).

“We want to continue their inspiring journey, as well as those of other Wisconsin children who have humbled us through their resolve and courage,” said organizer John Mahnke.

The run begins on Saturday, June 14, at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Mahnke said a small group of people has signed up to make the entire run, but he added that you needn’t worry about making that kind of commitment. There are plans to hold 5-K run/walk events in the nine communities where the run will stop during the nine-day event.

“Each 5-K will be its own event – but also serve as a fundraiser for our overall endeavor,” he said. “Each day will end at a predetermined city along the trail. We will meet and celebrate the day’s triumph. The following day will begin with a 5-K in that city at 8 am, before we move on to the next location.”

Here is the schedule:

June 14: Start at Children’s Hospital in Wauwatosa and finish in Port Washington.

June 15: Start in Port Washington finish in Sheboygan.

June 16: Start in Sheboygan finish in Manitowoc.
