Shopko Closings Don’t Include Sister Bay

Shopko announced last week that it will be closing 39 stores in 19 states at the end of February, but so far that list does not include the location in Sister Bay. All of the stores are Shopko Hometown stores like the Sister Bay location.

Only one of the announced closings is located in Wisconsin.

The Shopko location in Sister Bay has saved residents a drive to Sturgeon Bay to get a variety of household goods since it first opened as a Pamida location in 2007. Shopko bought Pamida’s 193 stores in 2012 to increase its presence in rural areas.

According to a report from Bloomberg.com, Shopko was unable to find a buyer and is preparing for a bankruptcy filing. The chain is owned by Sun Capital Partners, Inc.
