Vikings Drop Two Non-league Baseball Games

Gibraltar/Washington Island’s baseball team played Saturday in a tournament hosted by Adams-Friendship and lost both games.

The Vikings dropped the first game to Adams-Friendship, 17-11.

Of Gibraltar/Washington Island’s eight hits, Rylan Caldecott and Brady Kita had two apiece, with Kita recording a double and a triple.

Over six innings, the Vikings used five pitchers, who allowed only six hits, but gave up 15 walks and hit four batters.

Gibraltar/Washington Island lost the second game in five innings to St. Mary’s Springs, 10-0. 

The Vikings could only muster two hits, with Aidan Purinton’s double accounting for the team’s only extra-base hit.

Jack Duffy pitched the first three innings and recorded the loss, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits with four walks while striking out two.

Gibraltar/Washington Island returns to action Tuesday to host a Packerland Conference doubleheader against Peshtigo.
