Watercolor Master

“Morning Reflections, Cana Island” by Bridget Austin.

Well-known area watercolorist Bridget Austin will be the featured artist at Cottage Row Gallery, July 26 – Aug. 8. There will be a meet-the-artist reception on July 29, 1 – 3 pm, at which Austin will give a demonstration of her fresh and masterful techniques in watercolor.

Austin has been painting her impressions of nature in watercolor for more than 30 years. Her fresh style, use of white paper, negative painting, and lively color make her paintings a popular addition to many public and private collections. Favorite subjects include Door County landscapes of woods, water and rocks, wildflowers and gardens, nature studies, and scenes from her travels both here and aboard. She has earned Master Status in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America and had paintings accepted in many national and international exhibitions, including both the American and National Watercolor Societies. A selection of Austin’s watercolors is included in the permanent collection of the Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay and featured in several books.
