Wisconsin Theaters Unite to Present Festival in 2023

A coalition of Wisconsin theaters has established World Premiere Wisconsin: a statewide festival celebrating new plays and musicals that will run March 1 – June 30, 2023.

The festival was conceived in 2019 with the goals of building relationships among theater-makers across the state, raising awareness nationwide that Wisconsin has a thriving and diverse theater ecosystem that frequently creates new work, and encouraging and facilitating the production of new plays by providing marketing, fundraising and dramaturgical support to participating companies. 

The lead producers are Forward Theater Company in Madison, Milwaukee Repertory Theater and Door County’s Northern Sky Theater.

Festival Theaters are professional companies throughout the state that have committed to mounting a full production of a world-premiere work during the festival. Area Festival Theaters to date include Door Shakespeare, Northern Sky Theater, Peninsula Players Theatre and Third Avenue PlayWorks.
