It’s the weekend before Christmas – why not share in the holiday spirit with your friends and community during this weekend’s play readings, holiday concerts and a special tailgate fundraiser for Sunday’s game?

Holiday Readings

Door County’s Learning in Retirement’s Winter Reading Theater presents the beloved classics, A Child’s Christmas in Wale and Dulce Domum (from Wind in the Willows) during a staged reading at Jaycee Hall in Sturgeon Bay. 7 pm.

Saturday, December 17

Christmas Bird Count

Celebrate the season of the National Audobon Society’s longest-running citizen science bird project with the annual Christmas Bird Count. The Sturgeon Bay count happens Saturday while the one in Southern Door is schedule for Sunday.

Right Off the Wall

Join the artists of Meadows Art Gallery’s winter exhibit, Right Off the Wall, featuring works ready to be taken off the wall and wrapped for your friends and family. Stop by for a glass of wine and meet the artists during the opening reception from 2-4 pm.

Play It Forward

Join Door County’s beloved musicians for an evening of music and reflection during this annual benefit for the Go Bo! Foundation. Freewill donations encouraged. 7 pm.

Sunday, December 18

Tailgate Fundraiser

Join the folks at Sister Bay Bowl during Sunday’s face-off between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears for a tailgate party fundraiser. Enjoy all-you-can-eat tailgate fare, an auction, Packer pools and spin the wheel. Bring in canned goods for a chance at a door prize during this festive party, hosted by the Knights of Columbus Council #4896. 12 pm.

Chili and Guacamole

Head to Sherwood Point Grill for the Chili Cook-Off and Guac-Off, presenting prizes for first and second place in both categories. 2 pm.
