Water Audit Underway at Peninsula State Park
Peninsula State Park has cut its water use by half in recent years, and is taking steps to improve its water efficiency even more with a water audit. The park is testing toilets, pipes, and other plumbing to check for leaks and to gauge the plumbing’s water efficiency as part of a pilot project aimed at developing recommendations that can help cut water use and associated costs at this park and others throughout the state system.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department’s newest tool to keep the public informed about what’s going on in is now available on your Android or iPhone. The app has 24 possible features and options and can be downloaded free by searching for My Police Department or MyPD in the iPhone or Android marketplace.

American Legion Posts and VFW Invite Community to Memorial Day Services
Billy Weiss American Legion Post 527 of Sister Bay and VFW Post 8337 of Ellison Bay invites the community to Memorial Day ceremonies on May 27. At 9 am at Hendrickson Park, on the corner of Mill Road and Highway 42 in Sister Bay, a short ceremony with the laying of a wreath will honor local veterans.

Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Station Holds Open House
As part of the Operation Safe Water campaign, the Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Station will host an Open House on May 24, 1 – 5 pm. The public is invited to tour the station; participate in activities; speak with the US Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, “Coastie,” and other emergency personnel; and view their equipment and vessels.

Prince of Peace hosts the Electric Jazz Orchestra Concert on June 8 at 6:30 pm. The band of 34 students and instructors hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, and features a steel drum band, jazz and swing band and a symphonic orchestra.
