  • Celebrating After the Long Winter

    It’s been a really long winter, and it’s time to kick the winter weather to the curb and head to Groovin’ Sisterhood in Sturgeon Bay. The 2014 event takes place April 24-27, a perfect weekend to help get rid of cabin fever.

  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program at MDCMC

    One of the nation’s longest standing programs to reduce stress, pain and illness has arrived in Door County. With the help of Ministry’s Doctor Chona Antonio, this popular eight-week program led by Barbara Wulf will start its second session on April 23.

  • Ticket Sales Open for AFT

    American Folklore Theatre (AFT) announces ticket sales for the 2014 summer and fall seasons in Door County. This season includes three musicals playing in rotating repertory at their outdoor amphitheater in Peninsula State Park and a fall run of The Bachelors at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek.

  • Evening of Baroque Dance at Bjِrklunden

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a joint concert on April 20 at 1:30 pm. Always a favorite, the Lawrence University Bass Studio will perform under the direction of Mark Urness.

  • DC String Academy Announces Summer Programs

    The Door County String Academy announces summer programs: two three-week camp sessions beginning June 10 and July 15. The Orchestra Camp, designed for children four to six years old, will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9 am to 11 am at Hope Church in Sturgeon Bay.

  • A Powerful Piece of Theater: Third Avenue Playhouse presents ‘columbinus’

    “Do you remember the Columbine shootings?” Director Robert Boles asked 11 Door County high school students gathered for their first rehearsal of columbinus – a play that examines the day in the life of archetypal high school students and what happened on April 20, 1999, when two students opened fire in Columbine High School.

    The final YMCA Short Course National Championships for Conner McHugh was everything he could hope and dream of. During the four-day meet, Conner swam 12 events, qualifying with his teammates in four National relays.

    Anglers are invited to take part in the Baileys Harbor Brown Trout Tournament, held April 25 – 27. Participants can fish in both Door and Kewaunee county waters on the bay and lake side.

    Two wrestlers from the Southern Door Wrestling Club recently qualified and competed in the Wisconsin State Youth Wrestling Championships, March 28 – 29 at Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

    The July 20 Door County Half Iron Triathlon sold out in eight days this year. The July 19 Door County Sprint Triathlon is at 70 percent capacity, and filling up quickly.
