Cookery’s Fall Music Series Begins
The Cookery’s wine bar will host a fall music series beginning Labor Day weekend. The series features Eddie Smith and Tommy Burroughs; Mighty Mouth with Jay Whitney; Julian Hagen; Chris Irwin and Jeanne Kuhns; and Steve Schad.

“Add to the Archives” Focuses on WWII

Zion United Methodist Church will hold a hymn sing on Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm. Zion hymn sings begun in 1993 at the 137-year-old country church; the activity features old-time hymns chosen by the audience.

This week we look the grape that lives in the shadows of the great Italian varietals of Nebbiolo and Barbera – Dolcetto. Dolcetto is known as the “little sweet one” although it generally produces dry wines that are more tannic with low to moderate alcohol levels.

Dear Mary Pat, I’m at my wits end, and football season has hardly begun. Morning, noon, and night, my husband is all football. ESPN highlights are on at 7 am, he is online checking his fantasy football league after work, he is watching the games and more highlights after dinner and all day Sunday.
