The Big River figured largely in the life of author Samuel Clemens as it flowed through his boyhood hometown, inspiring his penname as well as playing a role in three of his best known works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and Life on the Mississippi. The Big Read that has once more come to Door County seems a fitting tribute to Mark Twain, and Tom Sawyer, with its charismatic bad-boy title character, may lure all of us across the state to visit his Mississippi River.

Sibilsky Recognized Internationally in New York
Bren Sibilsky, an Algoma sculptor and painter, has been juried into the Manhattan Arts International show “Celebrate The Healing Power of Art 2008.” Sibilsky’s work, titled “Releasing the Veil,” received eighth place overall in this worldwide show.
