  • Forty Classes Offered at Clearing in February

    The Clearing Folk School’s Winter Program continues with forty new classes in February. Classes are offered in the arts, fine crafts and nature studies, all taught by volunteer instructors who share their time and talent with the community.

  • Lecture Series Covers “Recent Trends in Chinese Politics”

    Dr. Wayne Patterson, Professor of History at St. Norbert College, will present “Recent Trends in Chinese Politics” on Feb. 9 at 9 am, as part of St. Norbert’s Distinguished Lecture Series held at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek.

Downton Abbey is a guilty pleasure – like Jersey Shore if the characters had impeccable posture and scandal peaked with a man sneaking into a lady’s bedroom.

  • Workshops and Compelling Screenings Scheduled for Door County Short Film Fest

    The fourth annual Door County Short Film Festival will be held at the Sister Bay Town Hall on Feb. 9. There will be workshops throughout the afternoon beginning at noon, and the short films will be shown at 7 pm.

  • Lecture Series and Movie Screenings Held through March at DCA

    Door County Auditorium (DCA) will once again host the St. Norbert Distinguished Lecture Series on select Saturday mornings this winter. January lectures include “The Presidential Election Campaign of 2012” with Dr. Wendy Scattergood on Jan. 19 and “The Wrath of Achilles/The Will of Zeus: Epics of Homer” by Dr. Tom Bolin on Jan. 26.

  • Door County Master Gardeners Announce Continuing Education Programs

    The Door County Master Gardeners announce the first two 2013 Continuing Education Programs: “Introspective on Lawn Care” with Jack ‘JP’ Peterson and “A History of Gardens and Landscapes” with Kathleen Blankenburg.

  • Dance Classes for All Ages Offered at Music & Arts School of Door County

    Registration is currently open for winter classes at the Music & Arts School of Door County. The school offers dance classes for all ages. Preschool dance classes (for ages 18 months – 5 years) include toddler tumbling, ballet and tap.

  • YMCA and Babler Bus Service Launch Bus Trip Series

    The YMCA and Babler Bus Service, Inc. are launching a new series of bus trips open to anyone with an itch for adventure. A trip is planned for March 24 to see the Passion Play in Appleton and the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion.

    On a mission to live forever, film director Mark Wexler travels the world trying to find out what it means to grow old. On Jan. 10, Greens N Grains Café and the Green Door Film Society invites the community to join in a comical exploration of aging at the screening of Wexler’s How to Live Forever.

    Learn something new at Ladies Night Out: Scrapbooking Night at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA on Jan. 11, 4 – 8 pm. Women are invited to show off their artistic side, take a walk down memory lane, and meet new people while putting together creative scrapbooks during the second annual “Ladies Art Night.”
