    This week we visit one of the lesser-known and oldest wine regions in France, Cahors (pronounced Ka-urs). The Cahors wine region is located about 110 miles southeast of Bordeaux in the valley of the river Lot.

    Dear Miss Manners, I can’t stand one of my coworkers. She’s always blabbering on about the perils of her life, which if I’m being completely honest are not that perilous! She faces the same problems that the rest of us do (boyfriend troubles, money stuff, health concerns) but she’s the only one who seems to complain about it relentlessly! All I want to do is go in to work and work, not try to help her solve her next crisis.

  • Jacksonport Historical Society Presents Scharrig Family

    The Jacksonport Historical Society will host a program with the Kurt Scharrig family on September 24 at 7 pm at Jacksonport Town Hall on County V in Jacksonport.

  • “Adventures in a Chinese Kitchen”

    From February 29 – March 12, 2012 Ellison Bay’s own Janice Thomas, head chef of the Savory Spoon Cooking School, along with Jeanee and Brian Linden, owners of both Ellison Bay’s Linden Gallery and the Linden Centre in Xizhou, China, will host participants in “Adventures in a Chinese Kitchen.”

  • Ephraim Museum Begins Fall Hours

    The Ephraim Village Museums have begun their fall hours. Four of the five museum buildings will be open Friday and Saturday from 11 am – 4 pm through October 8.

  • Door County Maritime Museum Hosts Fish Boil

    The Door County Maritime Museum in conjunction with J&M Fisheries will be hosting a fish boil with an open house at the museum’s Gills Rock facility on September 18.

  • Sister Bay Library Presents School Display

    The new school year has started, and the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library has a nostalgic exhibit on display showcasing past and present school buildings.

  • Door County Historical Museum Presents APPLES!

    On September 17, the Door County Historical Museum will present a celebration of APPLES! between 10 am – 3 pm. There will be apple treats and a display of items giving an overview of the early history of the apple industry in Door County, including the many contributions of Joseph Zettel to the establishment of fruit growing in our area.

  • UUF of Door County Screens “La Bestia”

    La Bestia, a compelling documentary illuminating the dangers and harsh conditions endured by people attempting to improve their lives by escaping to the United States, will be screened at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on September 20 at 4:30 pm.

  • Corner of the Past Continues Farm Market and Heritage Programs

    The Old Anderson House, centerpiece of the Sister Bay Historical Society’s Corner of the Past Museum, will close out it’s 15th year of operation on the weekend of September 24 – 25.

    On September 23, the Kiwanis Club of Northern Door will kick off its 2011-2012 travel and adventure film series with a cruise throughout the eastern Mediterranean.

  • Peninsula Players Perform “God of Carnage”

    God of Carnage made its Wisconsin première at Peninsula Players featuring actors Joe Foust, Maggie Carney, Karen Janes Woditsch and Kevin McKillip. In addition to the production, Peninsula Players will host free seminars and backstage tours, as well as two Sunday 4 pm matinee performances: October 9 and 16.

  • For Guyz in Dinner Jackets Perform at Sturgeon Bay’s TAP

    Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets will take the stage at Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) on September 24 at 7:30 pm. Their brand new show, “A Look Back,” highlights the best of the Four Guyz from their past eight years together.

  • Composer Topliff Releases “Door County Retreat”

    Minnesota Composer and Pianist Neal A. Topliff will be releasing two special compilation CDs entitled Door County Retreat – Volume One and Door County Retreat – Volume Two.

  • Door County’s Bjorklunden Hosts Free Cello Concert

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert September 25 at 1:30 pm. Attendees will join current and former cello students from the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University for an afternoon of fine music.

    The community is invited to attend a concert featuring pianists Judy and Carl Jackson on September 18 at 7 pm at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay.

  • Ahnapee Trail Century

    The Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail will host the second annual Ahnapee Trail Century Ride, a noncompetitive bicycle tour for all ages. The event on September 24 will offer 8-, 13-, 32-, 64-, and 100-mile routes through cedar wetlands, farm fields, orchards and woodlands surrounding Luxemburg, Casco, Algoma, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay.
