  • Land Trust Completes Grand View Purchase

    • The Door County Land Trust announced that after nearly three years of negotiations it has completed the purchase of the iconic Grand View property along Highway 42 at the top of the bluff in Ellison Bay.

  • Health Program Looks at Sexual Behavior

    The third and final program in this Community Health Information Program (CHIP) series is entitled “Healthy and Unhealthy Sexual Behaviors” and will be presented on March 4 from 4 – 5 pm at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay.

  • Packers Award Grant to Ministry Door County

    The Green Bay Packers Foundation announced a grant of $4,000 to the Ministry Door County Medical Center (MDCMC) Dental Clinic. The grant will help support clinic operations by assisting with the cost of staff, supplies and equipment purchases.

  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor Served 983 People in Need in 2011

    In 2011, 983 individuals benefited from services provided by Neighbor-to-Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers. Door County residents saved more than $400,000 in medical expenses by utilizing the organization’s services, and 81 volunteers donated 3,761 hours to facilitate medical equipment loans, serve as peer companions and/or respite care providers to homebound or isolated individuals, staff the Neighbor-to-Neighbor office, serve on the Board of Directors, and assist with special events.

  • Unity Hospice Offering March Orientation Sessions for Volunteers

    Unity, leaders in hospice and palliative care, recently announced March orientation sessions for its volunteer program. Unity’s Volunteer Services Department works closely with individuals to find meaningful ways for them to participate in its palliative, hospice and bereavement programs.

  • Olde Ellison Bay Days June 22 – 24

    The dates for the 46th Annual “Olde Ellison Bay Days” Festival have been confirmed for June 22 – 24. The festival will feature a pie baking contest, talent show, Grand Parade, Arts & Crafts Fair, live music, BBQ and picnic-style food and refreshments, and activities ranging from children’s games to the “signature” slow-bike race and water golf shoot-out from the Ellison Bay Park pier.

  • Habitat Crew Returns from Honduras Work

    Door County Habitat for Humanity’s second “Global Village” work crew recently returned from a week in Puerto Lempira, Honduras where they helped in the construction of a concrete block home for Maura Arevalo and her nine children.

  • Cultural Consultant, Horseman Will Host Workshop at Nelson Healing Center

    Phillip Whiteman, Jr., a nationally-known Indian cultural consultant, storyteller and horseman returns to Door County to present a one-day workshop, “The Circle of Love” on Saturday, March 10 at the Nelson Healing Center.

  • Rock Island Fundraiser Picnic June 30

    The Friends of Rock Island State Park will host their annual fundraiser picnic on June 30 at Rock Island State Park. Festivities will begin at 11 am near the Boathouse.

  • Golden Heart Awards Coming April 26

    The Volunteer Center of Door County is pleased to announce the 10th annual Golden Heart Volunteer Celebration presented by Ministry Door County Medical Center and the Volunteer Center of Door County will be held April 26 at Stone Harbor Resort.
