  • A Little “Night” Music

    Birch Creek and the Door Peninsula Astronomical Society (DPAS) are once again partnering for the Night Sky Viewing event, which follows the Hot Nights/Cool Jazz Percussion and Steel Band concert on June 25 (rain date is June 26).

    Ministry Door County Medical Center announces its free concert series Music in the Gardens, beginning July 8. Featured national touring acts for July include: • July 8 – Baskery.

  • A Capella Concert at the Peg Egan PAC

    The Peg Egan Performing Arts Center (PAC) presents The Nylons on June 29. The Nylons are an a cappella group founded in 1978 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada best known for their covers of pop songs such as “Happy Together,” “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye,” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

  • Musical Variety at the DCA

    On June 26, New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Jazz Band will bring their joyful brand of Louisiana jazz to Door Community Auditorium (DCA). Since 1961, Preservation Hall Jazz Band has sustained and expanded the rich tradition of jazz that permeates life in the Crescent City.

  • Michael P. Smith Kicks Off the Woodwalk Concert Series

    The 2014 Woodwalk Concert Series opens with Chicago songwriting icon, Michael P. Smith, on June 20 at 7 pm. Smith has been singing and composing songs since the 1960s and is best known for writing “The Dutchman” which was popularized by Steve Goodman and recorded by many, including the Kingston Trio.

  • Finding Inner Balance with The Spa at Scared Grounds

    The Spa at Sacred Grounds will host a Chakra Balancing Workshop on June 28, 10 am – 12:30 pm. This workshop is designed to introduce students to the chakra system, the seven major energy centers in the body that influence overall emotional, physical and spiritual health.

  • Kids Hone Their Culinary Skills

    Door County kids can hone their culinary skills at the Top Chef Tech Camp June 23-24 at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay. The hands-on summer camp runs daily from 9 am – 3 pm and is open to students entering grades 5-8.

  • Get Ready for Swim Season

    As swim season approaches, the Door County YMCA encourages children and parents in Door County to explore the many benefits of swimming, while also keeping safety top of mind.

  • You Can Dance If You Want To

    The grand opening of Frozen Spoon on in Sturgeon Bay will be celebrated with the “Glo-Yo” Fun Run on June 26 at 8:15 pm. This is an untimed, one-mile party run where participants of any age can run, walk or dance to the finish line.

  • Award Winning Taxidermist Expands His Exhibit

    Master taxidermist, Mike Orthober of Egg Harbor, will be at the Door County Historical museum on June 21, for most of the day, mounting a specimen for the museum’s “Seasons of Life” display.

  • Spring Turkey Hunt Up

    Despite a long and severe winter, Wisconsin turkey hunters registered a total of 41,815 birds during the 2014 spring turkey-hunting season. This is a 10.

  • Karate Promotions

    Congratulations to all of the members Living Hope Dojo and members of Goju-Ryu Karate at the Door County YMCA. Here is a list of the promotions: (Left to right) Instructor Shaun Koulias, Angel Jauregui, Leif Olson and Mateo Jauregui were tested for promotion at the Northern Door YMCA on June 2.

  • Marathon Paddlers

    On June 14, as part of the Washington Island Canoe & Kayak Event, paddlers from across the country participated in a triathlon (paddle, bike, run), a marathon circumnavigating Washington Island and a half marathon.

    From July 13 until July 18, Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden is offering these seminars: “The Kennedys: An American Experience” with Tim Crain, “The Tragic Comedy of Nikolai Gogol: Prose, Plays, Opera and Film” with Peter Thomas and “Midwest Medieval: Understanding the Boynton Chapel” with Ben Tilghman.

  • Expert Appraises Antiques

    The Heritage Village at Big Creek will host “What’s It Worth?” on June 26, 4 – 7 pm.
