For the month of May, IdleWild is offering 10 minutes of free lessons. Free lessons will also be available at the May 29 “TaylorMade and Callaway Demo Day” from 9 am – 1 pm.
The Alpine Womens’ Golf Association is actively seeking new members at all levels for the 2010 season. In past years, the Alpine WGA has consisted of nine-hole match play, but by majority vote, the new format will be individual play with all members eligible for prizes after eight rounds.
For the first time in history, Peninsula State Park will host a Big Cup Team Scramble tournament this spring. This will mark the first team scramble to be played in the park in recent history, and although not confirmed, quite possibly the first scramble to date.
For the first time since its inception in the mid-‘90s, the popular Jeff DeJardin Memorial four-person scramble will be held at The Orchards in Egg Harbor rather than its usual home in Sturgeon Bay at IdleWild.
The golf season is just underway for most of us. Yet, the Packerland Conference high school golf season came to a close Tuesday, May 4 at its final 18-hole conference championship at Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg.
After a winter and spring of speculation and uncertainty, Maxwelton Braes Golf Course will be open this summer after all. Paul Becker, a Baileys Harbor native who learned how to play on the course, has signed a lease with Baylake Bank to operate the course through the summer.

A Full Field Supports The “Johnny G”
For the eighth year in a row, the popular Johnny G Golf Scramble held at Maxwelton Braes sold out to a field of 140 men and women golfers.
John, a “seasoned” local golfer, competed this year in both the Senior State Amateur as well as the Cherryland Open.
Horseshoe Bay Hosted Senior State Amateur
Touted as one of the three biggest amateur tournaments directed by the Wisconsin State Golf Association, the Senior State Amateur took place this year at Horseshoe Bay on August 24 and 25.
Sue (Small) Burlo Sturgeon Bay Sue is currently enjoying possibly her best year of golf. She has posted an impressive eight rounds in the 70’s, and is looking forward to competing in the Cherryland Open this September.

Ehlers Reaches Semifinals in Junior Masters Championship
Against an extremely competitive field of some of the best junior golfers in the state, 16-year-old Sevastopol High School junior Ben Ehlers worked his way to the “final four” in the Mike Bencriscutto Junior Masters Golf Tournament held July 27 through July 31.
