    More than 1,100 Wisconsin high school students attended the State DECA Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva March 18 – 20. Marketing students competed in 35 different business events ranging from global entrepreneurship to start-up restaurant marketing.

    The Peninsula Preschool of Ephraim announces a scrumptious fundraising event – Get Stuffed for Preschool on March 29 at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek.

  • Gibraltar Fire Rescue Train with Chainsaws

    As part of the Forest Fire Protection grant program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Gibraltar Fire Rescue, Gibraltar EMRs, and Gibraltar Police received a matching $4,200 to purchase two chainsaws, an ATV firefighting skid unit, and an eight-hour chainsaw safety class delivered by FISTA, Inc.

  • Community Health Information Program Focuses on Dementia

    Northern Door Health & Wellness Ministry continues its Community Health Information Programs with an upcoming presentation on dementia. Christy Wisniewski, Ministry Memory Clinic Outreach Specialist, will discuss “Recognizing the Signs of Dementia” at the Community Health Information Program on March 30.

  • Try a Smelt Fry

    The Sturgeon Bay Kiwanis Club is holding a smelt fry on April 10 at the Mill Supper Club in Sturgeon Bay. The fry lasts from 4:30 to 7:30 pm, and is $10 per person; children 10 and under eat for free.

  • Ice Out Competitions Opens Up

    Door County is almost out of the depths of winter and it’s time to wager a guess for when the ice will officially “go out” of Sister Bay. Voting boxes for the 76th annual Ice Out Competition are in businesses around Sister Bay waiting for votes.

  • YMCA Passes Campaign’s Halfway Mark

    The Door County YMCA has surpassed the halfway point or its Annual Campaign goal to raise $500,000. Funds raised through the Annual Campaign and various community special events, will provide financial assistance for Door County residents who cannot afford a Y membership.

  • Lakeshore CAP Holds Home Buyer Workshop

    Lakeshore Community Action Program, Inc. serving Door, Calumet, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan counties is offering a Home Buyer Education workshop on April 12.

  • The Inaugural “Helpful Hearts” Dinner

    Lakeshore CAP is hosting a first annual “Helpful Hearts” Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on April 24 at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc from 5:30 – 9 pm. Out of 150 nominees, 50 finalists will attend the event, and six will receive a $500 check to give to the nonprofit or charitable service organization of their choice.

    Northern Door Children’s Center announce the opening of registration for their “Camp Cool” summer day camp. A safe, closely supervised program, Camp Cool offers children between the ages of five and 10 years an unforgettable summer experience.

    VFW Post 8337 of Ellison Bay and VFW Post 9290 of Baileys Harbor recently sponsored the Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriots Pen Contest at Gibraltar Area Schools.

  • Fishing Hole Sponsors Chili Cook-Off

    The Fishing Hole is sponsoring the sixth annual chili cook-off to benefit Feed & Clothe My People. To be held March 29, 1 to 5 pm, the event features chili, a silent auction and live music from Tomcat Joe from 7 to 10 pm.
