Gibraltar and the Town of Egg Harbor Adopted Budgets
• On Nov. 18, the Town of Egg Harbor board adopted a 2014 budget of $764,932 – or 9.09 percent lower than the town’s 2013 budget of $841,455.

Sister Bay Construction Meeting Scheduled
The Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold an informational meeting in Sister Bay to talk about the reconstruction of Hwy. 42 on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Sister Bay fire station.

Committee Continues Discussing Joint Fire District
• The Northern Door Fire District Exploratory Committee met on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Baileys Harbor to discuss the feasibility of making a joint fire district in northern Door County.

Gibraltar Fire Department Raising Money
• The Gibraltar Fire Department is raising money to update its equipment and comply with tightening codes. In the short run, the department is hoping to raise $25,000 to purchase 18 new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) that comply with American Heart Association standards.

Lake Michigan Fisheries Forum discussed Gills Rock Chinook Stocking
• In a letter dated Sept. 30, 2013, the board of directors of the Door County Environmental Council wrote to the Liberty Grove Town Board to register its dismay with the “Unnecessary and aggressive tree cutting along Door County roads…” The letter made five points that 1) Claimed the cutting destroys the uniqueness of Door County; 2) Is not necessary to expand the clear zone; 3) People drive faster on roads with increased clear zones; 4) The public does not support the tree cutting; 5) Towns and villages have limited liability for motorists leaving the pavement.

Robbery Reported in Egg Harbor
• The Department of Transportation released more detailed information on the delayed Sister Bay construction. The State Hwy. 42 reconstruction will begin in late summer of 2015 and will last until spring 2016.

• The Town of Baileys Harbor will host a meeting in the town hal at 7 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 16, about purchasing a property downtown.

Wisconsin Coastal Management Committee Met in Door County
•The Wisconsin Coastal Management Committee met in Door County on Thursday, Sept. 26, for its Autumn meeting.The committee started in Egg Harbor, where it heard from village president Josh Van Lieshout, Door County Land Trust program director Terrie Cooper, Landscapes of Place program manager Dan Collins and other local and state water experts.

Beachfront Inn in Baileys Harbor Hosting Hotel Impossible Open House
• The Beachfront Inn, located on the waterfront in downtown Baileys Harbor, is hosting an open house on Monday, Sept. 30, from 9 am to noon for people interested in viewing the remodeling project that will be featured on Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible show later that evening.

DOT Delayed Sister Bay Construction
• The Department of Transportation (DOT) delayed construction in downtown Sister Bay until next year. The DOT intends to expand the highway into village park land, but has to go through an extra permitting process because some of the park was purchased with grant money that required the space be used for recreation.

Pre-Fall Fest Meeting Scheduled in Sister Bay
• A pre-Fall Fest meeting is scheduled for Sept. 25 at 6 pm in the Sister Bay Village Hall. At least one representative from all vendors selling food or beverages should attend.

Sturgeon Bay City Council Voted to Remove Designated Bike Lanes on Michigan Street
• The Sturgeon Bay City Council voted to remove the designated bike lanes on Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay, return parking to both sides of the road and move the centerline back to the middle of the road.

Band Instruments Donated to Sevastopol Students
• The Sevastopol Music Art and Theater (M.A.T.) Guild purchased six new band instruments and seven music books for students in need. Since band participation is so high at Sevastopol, the school ran out of instruments to loan to students.

Liberty Grove Traffic Counter Results Available
• The Town of Liberty Grove has posted results of its traffic counter surveys done this summer on Garrett Bay Road, Isle View Road and Old Stage Road.
