    On January 23, 2014, after a 90-day review by the United States Congress, Admiral R. J. Papp, Jr. the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard signed a proclamation designating the City of Sturgeon Bay a “Coast Guard City.

    A great crowd gathered for the Easter Egg Hunt at Lakeside Park in Jacksonport on April 19. At the hunt the Easter Bunny made an appearance and posed for pictures, free face painting was available for kids to get bunny whiskers, and each child could find three eggs to receive three prizes from the prize table.

    The Door County Land Trust has three ways to inspire people to take an outdoor adventure in celebration of Earth Day and the warmer days ahead. Join them for a guided Earth Day hike at the Heins Creek Nature Preserve, try their Apple or Android hiking trail app, or request a free “Hiking Trails of the Door County Land Trust” map.

  • Morning of Birding at Whitefish Dunes

    Join amateur birders Bill and Sarah Krouse at Whitefish Dunes State Park for a morning of birding on April 26 at 7:30 am. This adult focused program will allow participants to explore a variety of habitats for migrating birds.

    On January 23, 2014, Sturgeon Bay was officially proclaimed by Congress to be “A Coast Guard City.” Sturgeon Bay is the first city in Wisconsin to be so honored.

    Parents bring your kids and kids bring your friends to the fourth annual Sister Bay Egg Hunt on April 19 at 10:30 am. Eggs will be hidden around Waterfront Park in downtown Sister Bay (inside the Sister Bay Village Hall if it’s raining), and there will be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.

    Learn about the “hip hop gang” then walk a forest trail searching for eggs at Peninsula State Park’s egg hunt on April 19 from 1 to 2 pm. Interested egg hunters, ages ten and younger, should meet at Peninsula’s Nature Center.
