Fairfield Art Center Announces June Events
The summer season has arrived, and the Fairfield Art Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay is preparing a variety of June events and activities. The art center will be introducing its brand-new “Find it at the Fairfield!” scavenger hunt, sponsored by the Artists Guild, on June 6 and an artists’ talk and slide-show presentation on June 12.

Artistic “Celebration of Life on the Lake” in Kewaunee County
Through the months of April and May students from Kewaunee and Algoma schools, as well as home school children and adult community members, have gathered at Clay on Steele in Algoma to create works of art celebrating life in Northeast Wisconsin on the Lake Michigan shore.

Linden and Barnsite Galleries Team Up
Scott Tallman Powers and 22 oil painters from the U.S. recently painted for three weeks in Southwestern China. The trip, which was organized in cooperation between the Barnsite Gallery in Kewaunee and the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, provided these painters with the opportunity to surround themselves with the rich cultural traditions of the region.

Door County Art League Showcase Gallery
The Door County Art League (DCAL) will hold a grand opening for its new Showcase Gallery on Friday, May 23. The gallery will be open from 10 am – 5 pm, and a reception will be held from 5 – 9 pm, during which the public is cordially invited to meet and mingle with DCAL artists, enjoy refreshments, and peruse the many original pieces of art.

DCAL Holds Potluck to Discuss Programs for Upcoming Season
On Monday, May 26, Door County Art League (DCAL) members will get together to socialize and to discuss the upcoming activities of the league at the annual spring potluck dinner beginning at 6 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room.

Door County Art News: New Frykman Studio Gallery in Sister Bay
The path a potter takes to become a woodcarver might well be as winding as a country road and as filled with interesting detours. Such was the route David Frykman followed in 1974 when he opened his Sister Bay pottery studio on Highway 42 across from the Bay Ridge Golf Course.
