The summer season has arrived, and the Fairfield Art Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay is preparing a variety of June events and activities. The art center will be introducing its brand-new “Find it at the Fairfield!” scavenger hunt, sponsored by the Artists Guild, on June 6 and an artists’ talk and slide-show presentation on June 12.

Internationally recognized sculptor and painter Bren Sibilsky will unveil her new exhibition, “The Alchemy of Nature, Myths & Magic,” on Tuesday, June 3, at the Fairfield Art Center in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Art is blooming all over Ellison Bay this spring! Seven galleries in Ellison Bay open wide their studios and galleries to art lovers and collectors Saturday, May 17 and Sunday May 18 from 10 am – 5 pm.

Through the months of April and May students from Kewaunee and Algoma schools, as well as home school children and adult community members, have gathered at Clay on Steele in Algoma to create works of art celebrating life in Northeast Wisconsin on the Lake Michigan shore.

Charlene Berg at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock is anticipating the forthcoming summer art scene with a roster of ten new local and regional artists in featured solo-exhibits and the works of more than 100 others on display in her collection.

Scott Tallman Powers and 22 oil painters from the U.S. recently painted for three weeks in Southwestern China. The trip, which was organized in cooperation between the Barnsite Gallery in Kewaunee and the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, provided these painters with the opportunity to surround themselves with the rich cultural traditions of the region.

In addition to artwork on display at the new Door County Art League Showcase Gallery in Fish Creek, members artwork can be seen at Trattoria Dal Santo, 147 N.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) will hold a grand opening for its new Showcase Gallery on Friday, May 23. The gallery will be open from 10 am – 5 pm, and a reception will be held from 5 – 9 pm, during which the public is cordially invited to meet and mingle with DCAL artists, enjoy refreshments, and peruse the many original pieces of art.

On Monday, May 26, Door County Art League (DCAL) members will get together to socialize and to discuss the upcoming activities of the league at the annual spring potluck dinner beginning at 6 pm at the Gibraltar Fire Department meeting room.

Enjoy an evening in the Miller Art Museum galleries Saturday, May 31 from 7 – 8:30 pm when the new exhibition, “Rodger Bechtold: Translated Landscapes,” opens.

Through May 27 at The Miller Art Museum, 117 students from all five Door County High Schools, as well as home school students, are exhibiting one or more pieces of art in a variety of media.

In an effort to raise awareness of the arts in the Door County community, the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts (FHCA) is encouraging individuals to contribute to the Community Mosaic Project.

The Francis Hardy Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the launch of a very exciting 2008 season with the annual “Wall-to-Wall Salon” exhibit, which will open on the evening of Saturday, May 24 from 5 – 7 pm and remain on view through Thursday, May 29.

The path a potter takes to become a woodcarver might well be as winding as a country road and as filled with interesting detours. Such was the route David Frykman followed in 1974 when he opened his Sister Bay pottery studio on Highway 42 across from the Bay Ridge Golf Course.

The Peninsula Pulse has teamed up with the Door County Art League (DCAL) to reprint portions of interviews conducted by Randy Rasmussen, a DCAL Member-at-Large, with various artists.

Franne Dickinson and Nancy Sargent share a love of Door County, a love of painting and a love of color. Their paintings explode with vibrant, joyful, rich colors that say a great deal about who they are and what they care about…it’s a true “Celebration of Color.

Whitefish Bay Farm Gallery begins its 26th season featuring work of photographer Leonard Quartetti and fiber artist Rosie Dittmann. This early summer exhibit will begin Saturday, May 24 and continues through June 30.

On Thursday, May 29 from 3:30 – 6 pm the Francis Hardy Center for the Arts will host an open house for an exhibit in conjunction with it’s Exposure To Creativity (ETC) program at the Link Gallery in the Door Community Auditorium.

The artwork of Fort Atkinson, WI, based artist Jeremy Pinc will be the first exhibit of The Back Gallery Series 2008 at The Flying Pig Gallery and Greenspace from May 24 through June 22.
