  • Greens N Grains Screens “Which Way Home”

    Greens N Grains of Egg Harbor will screen the award-winning documentary Which Way Home for their Thursday Dinner and Movies Series on Feb. 8. Which Way Home tracks the journeys of unaccompanied child migrants, on their passage through Mexico, as they try to reach the United States.

  • Door County Master Gardeners Presents Potato Preservation Presentation

    The Door County Master Gardeners Association will host their third Continuing Education Program of 2012 on Feb. 7 at 7 pm at the Crossroads of Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

  • Base Camp Coffee Bar Hosts Mini Movie Night

    Base Camp Coffee Bar in Sister Bay will host their 3rd Annual Mini Movie Night on Feb. 10 at 7 pm. Short movies and music videos by locals (and beyond) will be presented for an evening of fun, light entertainment.

  • Battle for the Crown

    Nine contestants will take the stage at the Southern Door Community Auditorium Saturday, Feb. 4 to compete for the title of Miss Door County. Kirsten Hawkey, Natalie Bretl, Madeline Winkel, Miluzka McMarthy, Iris Jones, Hannah Cole, Zephyr Ciesar, Susan Fochs and Samantha Cole will compete at the scholarship pageant, which has awarded $164,650 in cash scholarships to young Door County women in its 15 years of existence.

  • Bay Ship GM to Speak at Maritime Museum

    The Door County Maritime Museum’s speaker series continues on Thursday, Feb. 2, with a topic that is always of interest to Door County residents and particularly those in the Sturgeon Bay area.

  • Salsa with J-Ro

    Beginner Salsa Dance Lesson Series will begin at the Music & Art School of Door County when 10 individuals are signed up. (No partner required.) Once classes start, enrollment will be closed and drop-ins midway through the series will not be allowed.

  • Fish Creek Hosts Annual Chili Cook-off

    Proud chili cooks will be battling for bragging rights and cash prizes at Fish Creek Winter Festival’s annual Chili Cook-off on Feb. 4. Prizes of $300, $200, and $100 will be awarded to first, second, and third places, respectively, with a gift package going to the People’s Choice Award.

  • “Super 8” at Door Community Auditorium

    On Jan. 20 and 21, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will provide the second installment of its 2012 lecture and movie screening series. Both events are free to the public, though freewill donations are appreciated.

  • Sign Up for Classes at The Clearing

    Registration continues for The Clearing Folk School’s Winter Program classes with new classes starting throughout February. Over 115 day-classes are offered this year in the arts, fine crafts, natural sciences and humanities.

  • Washington Island Winter Carnival Lock-In

    Washington Island School will host its first-ever Winter Carnival and Dance on Feb. 11. The semi-formal “Winter Wonderland” event is open to all Door County students.

    On Jan. 13 and 14, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will kick off its 2012 lecture and movie screening series. Both events are free to the public, though freewill donations are accepted.

  • UUF Screens “Forks Over Knives”

    On Jan. 17 at 4:30 pm the documentary Forks Over Knives will be screened at the UU Fellowship in Ephraim. Focusing on the research of two food scientists, this film reveals that despite broad advances in medical technology, the popularity of modern processed foods has led to epidemic rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer; an epidemic that simultaneously harms the environment.

  • Door County Master Gardeners Offer Free Gardening Programs

    The Door County Master Gardeners (DCMG) has announced the first two 2012 Continuing Education Programs. The public is welcome to join the DCMG for a free program, “Think Spring! What’s New for 2012?” on Jan. 10.
