  • Fun Park Pulled Helicopter Application

    • The Egg Harbor Fun Park has withdrawn its application for a helicopter landing pad. The public hearing originally scheduled for June 11 in the Town of Egg Harbor was cancelled.

  • Local Business Roundtable Coming Up

    • As a direct result of the recent Door Kewaunee Legislative Days in Madison, the Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) and Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) will host a local business roundtable with state officials on June 18, 10 – 11:30 am in the Community Meeting Room in Sturgeon Bay City Hall, 421 Michigan St.

    • If you’ve been frustrated by the Sturgeon Bay detours during the Bayview Bridge repair project, hang on because there are only three weeks left of detouring through the city.

  • Gibraltar School District Hired Nine New Employees

    • The Ephraim Village Board rescinded Harbor Construction’s dredging contract. The channel in Eagle Harbor is sufficiently deep – between three and five feet deep throughout.

    • The Board of Review for the Town of Egg Harbor will be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday, June 3, at the Town Hall (5242 County I). • The Board of Review for the Town of Baileys Harbor will be held Tuesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 pm in the meeting room at the Town Hall, 2392 County F, Baileys Harbor.

  • Sturgeon Bay Rejects “Spot Zoning”

    • The City of Sturgeon Bay has rejected a request to turn a private home into a rental property for tourists on the basis that such a move represents “spot zoning.

  • DOT to Hold a Meeting for the WIS 42 Reconstruction

    The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting for the reconstruction of WIS 42 through the village of Sister Bay beginning in July 2014 and continuing through June 2015.

    A bill that would call for increased background checks on the sale or transfer of guns is circulating in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

  • Work on Phase Two renovations at Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor delayed

     • Work on Phase Two renovations at Anclam Park in Baileys Harbor has been delayed because of the federal sequester. Because of a delay in the transfer of federal funds to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project was pushed back to fiscal year 2014.

  • Door County Economic Development Corporation to Hold Broadband Discussion

    • On May 8, the Door County Economic Development Corporation will hold a series of Broadband Roundtables to promote infrastructure and service upgrades, as well as debut the new telecommunications layer on the Door County GIS map.

  • Sturgeon Bay Creates Tax Incremental District For West Waterfront Redevelopment

    • Sturgeon Bay’s Joint Review Board unanimously approved the creation of Tax Incremental District (TID) No. 4 on the city’s west waterfront.

  • Voters to weigh in on hunting in state parks

    At its Spring Hearing, the Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Conservation Congress will be asking voters to react to the Natural Resources Board’s modified proposal of expanded hunting and trapping rules in state parks.

  • Door County police target internet crimes against children

    The Door County Sheriff’s department was part of Operation Black Veil, an effort by police departments in Northeast Wisconsin and the Department of Criminal Investigations to crack down on internet crimes against children.

    • This year’s Door County Fair will take place from July 31 to Aug. 4. The fair will once again be held at John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay, and the ticket price will be $10 per person before 5 pm and $12 after.

    • The Town of Washington received a $2,800 grant from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College toward hosting a welding class on the island.
