  • Crossroads of Door County Hosts Various Programs

    Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities throughout July. July 24 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm the Crossroads will feature “Walking Sticks” and “Father Tony’s Famous Chickens” in the Historical Village.

  • Lautenbach Orchard of Door County Hosts Annual Summer Harvest Cherry Fest

    Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market will host its 7th Annual Summer Harvest Cherry Fest on July 23 from 10 am – 5 pm. Attendees will enjoy complimentary tastings of Orchard Country wines, local micro brews and farm market foods – featuring the popular tart Montmorency cherry.

  • Peninsula State Park of Door County Hosts Cemetery Walk

    The public is welcome to join Peninsula State Park Naturalist Kathleen Harris on July 30 from 10 – 11 am at Blossomburg Cemetery. Created for older children and adults, attendees will discover the people and places of the Door Peninsula including Charles Lesaar, Julia Duclon, Vida Weborg and many more.

  • The Ridges of Door County Offers Children Programs

    There is still time to sign up for one of the summer children’s programs offered at The Ridges Sanctuary, located near Baileys Harbor. All programs are conducted by professional staff and volunteers from The Ridges.

  • Gaze at the Stars in Sister Bay

    Stars are bright with minimal light in Sister Bay, creating an ideal venue for stargazing. Hobby and professional astronomers, and anyone who enjoys looking at and contemplating the celestial bodies in the night sky, are invited to attend a Star Gazing Party on August 6 in the Sister Bay Sports Complex.

    As day breaks on July 18, 2010, Door County Triathlon Race Director Sean Ryan is glued to his radio. A thousand athletes will soon descend on Frank Murphy County Park in Egg Harbor for the Half Iron event, and a bank of heavy clouds hangs ominously over Green Bay.

    The Door County Maritime Museum Classic & Wood Boat Festival is making its annual call for entries. The festival is scheduled for the weekend of August 6 and 7 and annually features a remarkable assortment of vessels with awards for power, sail and self-powered boats.

  • Sturgeon Bay Hosts Maritime Festival

    The first annual Sturgeon Bay Maritime Festival will include many events to honor local Coast Guard personnel and their families. Officially titled the “Sturgeon Bay Maritime Festival: Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard,” the week of community events will kick off with the Sail Thru the Avenues Side Walk Sale on July 28.

    Peninsula State Park is offering a variety of programs in July. The public is invited to attend a star gazing program on July 17 beginning at 9 pm at Nicolet Beach.

    Liberty Grove Historical Society Juried Arts and Crafts Fair and the Antique Tractor & Engine Show will be held July 23 from 10 am – 5 pm and July 24 from 10 am – 4 pm.

  • Gravity Trails of Door County Offers Gem Mining

    Gravity Trails Zip Line and Kayak Tours of Door County is now offering gem mining as its newest activity. Adults and children of all ages can now purchase pails of gem enriched soil and sift through them in a 16-foot mining flume, which pumps 80 gallons of water a minute.

  • 51st Annual House & Garden Walk Features Homes Throughout Door County

    The Door County Medical Center Auxiliary will present the 51st House & Garden Walk on July 26 from 9 am – 5 pm. The event will feature the beautiful homes of Dylan Lauger of Sturgeon Bay, Ed Fenendael & Frank Villigan of Baileys Harbor, Karl & Lyn Huber of Egg Harbor, Mitch & Mary Heinrichs of Fish Creek and David & Joann Thomas of Sister Bay.

  • Little Lake Nature Preserve, Washington Island

    The Little Lake Nature Preserve encompasses the north end of Little Lake, Washington Island’s only inland lake. Located within 250 feet of Lake Michigan, this 33-acre landlocked lake was created thousands of years ago when waves washed gravel and cobblestones across a shallow bay of glacial Lake Nippising (now Lake Michigan.)
