The Ephraim Historical Foundation’s “History Speaks” lectures will take place Tuesdays, July 6 – July 27 at 7:30 pm at Ephraim Village Hall.

The 2010 Door County Folk Festival begins Wednesday, July 7 and continues through Sunday, July 11. The 31st annual event continues a tradition of enjoyable weekends where participants may dance (as late into the night as they wish), sing, learn, eat, party, and make new friends in a relaxed, community atmosphere.

From July 25 through July 30 Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden in Baileys Harbor is offering three seminars: “The United States and the Greatest Generation, 1929-1945,” “Early Renaissance Art in Florence,” and “Basic Crossword Puzzle Construction.

This fall, Brian and Jeanee Linden of Ellison Bay are offering two theme tours at their centre in China, the Linden Centre.

It might be stating the obvious to say that here in Wisconsin we love cheese.

The Savory Spoon Cooking School is hosting an array of classes as the season gets underway. On Saturday, June 26 at 6 pm, the Savory Spoon will celebrate seasonal flavors: asparagus, rhubarb, and more.

The public is invited to join the new “Chinese Corner,” a weekly conversation class for anyone wanting to learn and speak Mandarin, the official language of China and Singapore, spoken by an estimated 1 billion people.

The Alexander Noble House Museum is open for the season, Tuesday through Sunday from 12 – 5 pm. A costumed guide will assist visitors as they step back in time to a Fish Creek home of the late 1800s.

From Sunday, July 18 until Friday, July 23 Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden is offering three seminars: “Musical Postcards from Paris,” “Berlin up Close and Personal,” and “The Media in Washington.

Whether it’s the pool, the beach, the water park or the lakefront, the Door County YMCA reminds families that when in or around the water, it’s safety first.

The teens of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) announced a new Wednesday night coffeehouse gathering called “U-Night.” The event launched on June 16, and will continue June 30, July 21, July 28, and August 18.

Friday, June 25 marks the annual opening of Third World Marketplace at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay. Running in conjunction with the Olde Ellison Bay Days Ice Cream Social, the Marketplace, open from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, features the workmanship of artisans in developing countries from around the world.

On June 23, the Jacksonport Historical Society will visit with the Charles and Eliza Olson family at the Jacksonport Town Hall. The public is welcome to attend the presentation and learn more about the Olson family history in Jacksonport, dating back to 1920.

Ephraim’s popular Sunday Sing-Alongs are back and long-time, charismatic song leader, Don Makuen, is looking forward to starting off the season. The tradition resumes on June 20 at 7:30 pm at the Ephraim Village Hall.

Pies and contests are as American as, well, pie. The Ellison Bay Service Club decided it was time to hosts its first Annual Pie Baking Contest for Olde Ellison Bay Days on June 26.

The Door County Folk Festival (DCFF) offers a variety of dance workshops beginning Wednesday, July 7 through Sunday, July 11. Each day includes classes for beginning and intermediate dancers and focuses on a range of styles and techniques, from square dancing to salsa dancing.

The Door County Bridge Club announces the formation of a new duplicate bridge club for the Door County area. Sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), duplicate bridge games will be held every Tuesday at 12 pm at the Stella Maris Church, 7710 Highway 42, Egg Harbor.

In November, Junction Center Yoga Studio will present “Freeing the Body, Freeing the Mind: Integrating Yoga Practice and Buddhist Meditation” with Michael Stone.

From Sunday June 27 to Friday July 2, Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden offers a seminar entitled “The Natural World through Music, Movement, and Science” as a part of Grandparents/Grandchild Week.
