Door County is home to a selection of performance venues and ensembles unmatched by any other small communities in America. Birch Creek brings jazz and classical music to a rustic barn, Midsummer’s Music Festival tours the peninsula for intimate concerts, and the Peninsula Music Festival awes visitors and locals alike at the Door Community Auditorium each august.   • Birch Creek Associates’ Scheduled Events

    Birch Creek’s 37th concert season is just around the corner and their volunteer team, The Associates, has scheduled its first meeting of the season for May 16 at 9:30 am.

  • Spring Clean Day at Peninsula Players Theatre

    Soon the acting company and technicians of Peninsula Players Theatre will arrive from across the country to begin their 77th year presenting plays along Door County’s scenic shore.

  • Bjِrklunden Hosts LOVE: Lawrence’s Own Viola Ensemble!

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert on May 20 at 1:30 pm. Members of the Lawrence University viola studio will perform works for solo viola, viola and piano, and works for multiple violas as LOVE: Lawrence’s Own Viola Ensemble! Professor Matthew Michelic and guest artist Frank Babbitt of the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra present this concert following a weekend of rehearsals and classes focused on all things viola.

  • The Emerson Series Continues with Jodie DeSalvo at UUF

    Award-winning pianist and conductor Jodie DeSalvo will pair up with mezzo-soprano Cynthia Stiehl for an evening of spectacular music May 18 at the UU Fellowship (UUF) in Ephraim.

  • Tuesdays at TAP Concludes with Joel Kopischke

    The Tuesdays at TAP benefit series will conclude May 15 at 7:30 pm with a special concert by Joel Kopischke benefiting Peninsula Players Theatre. The concert will feature songs from past Players productions, songs related to plays from the Players 2012 season and songs about summer in Door County.

  • Pro Arte Quartet Perform at the Ephraim Moravian Church

    Midsummer’s Music will feature Pro Arte Quartet on May 5 at 7:30 pm at the Ephraim Moravian Church. Pro Arte, celebrating its 100-year existence, will delight the audience with compositions from Haydn, Haribon and Franck.

  • Summer Programs for the Door County String Academy

    The Door County String Academy (DCSA) announces its Summer Programs for 2012. At the Meet the Orchestra Camp, children ages four to six will learn about the instruments of the orchestra, hear live performances from each section of the orchestra (brass, woodwinds, percussion, and strings), make musical instruments and apply basic music theory concepts.

  • “Joy of Spring” Concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

    St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Sister Bay is proud to announce its first concert in its newly completed addition, the Canterbury Room, taking place May 6 at 3 pm.

  • Bjorklunden Hosts Lawrence Chamber Concert

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert on May 3 at 4:30 pm. Lawrence University’s string and piano students will perform significant chamber works by Brahms, Beethoven, Faure, and Dvorak.

  • Midsummer’s Music Announces Start of Season

    Midsummer’s Music season begins June 8 with “Fantasy and Magic,” and its “red carpet” premiere at Birch Creek Performance Center near Egg Harbor. The premiere promises to deliver a delightfully balanced evening of champagne, chocolate, and the music of Schumann, Kreutzer and Raff.

  • Bjorklunden Hosts a Concert of Chamber and Solo Music

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert on April 29 at 1:30 pm. The Lawrence University Trombone Ensemble, Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and Low Brass Ensemble will perform a concert of chamber and solo music under the direction of Lawrence professors Marty Erickson (tuba-euphonium) and Nick Keelan (trombone).

  • Brass Quintet Performs in Sturgeon Bay

    Mexico’s finest young brass quintet, Metales M5 will take the stage at the United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay April 12. The performance will begin at 7:30 pm, and is sponsored by Door Concert, Inc.

  • Bjorklunden Hosts Two Concerts

    Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a concert April 8 and 15 at 1:30 pm. Both concerts are sponsored by the Boynton Society and are open to the public.

  • Gibraltar Celebrates Spanish Literacy

    The Friends of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Spanish Department teamed up to celebrate Spanish Literacy at Gibraltar Schools, including a performance by the Clinard Dance Theatre on March 17 at 6:30 pm.

  • TAP Presents Zylyeo Quartet

    Feb. 21 at 7:30 pm, Zylyeo Quartet will perform at Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) as a part of “Tuesdays at TAP,” benefitting the Door County String Academy.

  • Shepherd of the Bay Presents Lenten Musicales

    The public is invited to attend the sixth annual series of Lenten Musicales presented by musicians of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church on three Sundays in February and March at 4 pm.

  • Hope Church Hosts “Romantic Recital”

    Violinist Beth Chafey-Hon will present a “Romantic Recital” with virtuoso pianist David Beck on Feb. 18 at 7 pm at the Hope United Church of Christ, located at 141 12th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.

  • Didgeridoo Up from Down Under in Coffeehouse Series

    Feb. 17 at 7 pm, the Door Community Auditorium’s (DCA) Fireside Lobby will come alive with the distinct sounds of aboriginal Australian instrument the didgeridoo, presented by Brian Pertl of Lawrence University, as part of DCA’s Coffeehouse Concert Series.

    Lawrence University’s Bjorklunden is offering opera lovers a rare opportunity to experience an international world premiere featuring Wisconsin native son and Lawrence graduate Dale Duesing.

    Feb. 17, associate conductor Stephen Alltop and soprano/violinist Josefien Stoppelenburg will present a program entitled “The Music of Jane Austen” as part of the Peninsula Music Festival’s annual February Fest.
