  • A Norwegian Novel Tour

    Author Rachel Wisdom of St. Louis will visit Door County June 26 – 29 for a book tour promoting her debut novel, A Shopkeeper’s Daughter. A historical romance, the novel is based on the love story of the current King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway.

  • New Door County Mystery Series

    Author Patricia Skalka appears in two special events in Door County for her recently published mystery novel, Death Stalks Door County. The events are co-sponsored by The Friends of Door County Libraries, the Peninsula Bookman, and Write On, Door County.

  • A Poet Returns

    One of Door County’s beloved poets, Peg Bresnahan, returns to the county to see old friends and read from her newest book, In A Country None Of Us Called Home.

  • ‘Pulse’ and ‘Door County Living’ Writer Wins Award

    Gary Jones received recognition for his non-fiction book Gentleman’s Dresser in the Wisconsin Writers Association (WWA) First Chapter competition. The award was presented at the banquet on May 3 at the Wisconsin Writers Association Author Showcase in La Crosse, Wis.

  • The ABCs of Door County

    Gibraltar third graders will express what Door County means to them with children’s author and illustrator Nancy Carlson in an artist in residency program.

  • Unabridged Poet to Speak

    Rolf Olson is the featured poet in the UU Fellowship’s Dickinson Poetry Series on May 14 at 7 pm. Olson has changed places in the Dickinson schedule with Hanne Gault, who will now read in December.

    Calling all writers of all ages – Leadership Door County 2014 seeks short story and poetry submissions. Join them in celebrating the extraordinary within everyday lives by submitting your personal perspective on life and experiences in Door County.

Wanted: Stories, Poetry, Fiction

    Write On, Door County offers free writing workshops for people experiencing illness, either their own or that of a loved one. The five-session workshop still has sessions on May 13, 27 and June 10.

  • History Comes Alive in Sturgeon Bay

    American history “comes alive” with special discussion leader John Harris at 2 pm on May 22 at the Sturgeon Bay Library. University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Professor Emeritus John Harris will examine the events and personalities that emerged in the summer of 1927 in a discussion of One Summer: America, 1927 by Bill Bryson.

  • Readers Rampant to Discuss “The Aviator’s Wife”

    On May 13 at 2:30 pm, Readers Rampant Book Club of the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library will meet to discuss The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin. This New York Times bestselling novel about Anne Morrow Lindbergh imagines the highs and lows of her marriage to Colonel Charles Lindbergh and spans the years from the late 1920s to mid-sixties.

  • How Pictures Work in Picture Books

    Write On, Door County presents award-winning author and illustrator Nancy Carlson in a special day-long workshop, “How Pictures Work in Picture Books,” on May 3, 9 am – 5 pm.

  • Monthly Book Groups to Meet

    Write On, Door County’s monthly book groups will meet the last day in April. The poetry reading group will meet April 26 from 10 am – noon, and will discuss Best of the Best American Poetry: 25th Anniversary Edition edited by David Lehman.

  • Michael Perry Joins Judges of The Hal Prize

    The Peninsula Pulse and Write On, Door County are proud to announce that bestselling author Michael Perry will judge the nonfiction contest of this year’s Hal Prize.

  • Writing Through Illness

    Write On, Door County announces a free writing workshop for people experiencing illness, either their own of that of a loved one. Led by journalist, editor, photographer Heidi Hodges, the workshop will begin April 15, 10 am – noon, at Hope United Church of Christ, 141 S.

  • Dickinson Series Starts Anew

    Estella Lauter is the featured reader at the Dickinson Poetry Series on April 9 at 7 pm at the UU Fellowship in north Ephraim. Soon after she and her husband Chuck bought land in Door County in 1970, Lauter began to write poetry.

  • Second ‘Dracula’ Installment Available

    Local author Victor T. Foia announces the publication of the second installment in the seven-volume Dracula Chronicles series, Empire of the Crescent Moon, available in both paperback and Kindle editions on Amazon.

  • Poet Laureate Joins Dickinson Poetry Series

    The sixth year of the Emily Dickinson Poetry Series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in Ephraim begins in April, National Poetry Month.
