  • Door County Sail & Power Squadron Presents Seminar

    June 25, the Door County Sail & Power Squadron is offering a free two-hour seminar, “Sail Trim & Rig Tuning,” beginning at 9 am, at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, located at 600 Nautical Drive in Sturgeon Bay.

  • Door County’s Peninsula Gun Club Offers Hunter Education Course

    The Peninsula Gun Club of Fish Creek will host a DNR certified Wisconsin Basic Hunter Education Course. The course will be held from 6 – 8:15 pm on July 19, 21, 26, 28, Aug. 2, and 4.

  • Open Spaces and Wild Places

    The Ephraim Preserve at Anderson Pond is a serene oasis within walking distance of the bustling and picturesque village of Ephraim. The centerpiece of the preserve is a spring-fed pond that fluctuates from six flooded acres in the spring to one acre in late fall.

  • Baileys Harbor Range Lights Open for Tours

    Two of the most unique lighthouses in Door County, the Baileys Harbor Range Lights, will be open for tours during the Door County Maritime Museum’s Lighthouse Festival, June 10 – 12.

    Although the Plum Island cruise and tour is sold out, tickets are available for the remainder of the land-based tours and boat cruises set for the 18th Annual Door County Lighthouse Festival, taking place June 10 – 12.

  • Door County Sail & Power Squadron Presents Knot Seminar

    The Door County Sail & Power Squadron is offering a free two-hour seminar, “Knots, Bends, & Hitches,” on June 11 at 9 am. The seminar will take place at SkipperBud’s Quarterdeck Marina, located at 705 Quarterdeck Lane, Sturgeon Bay.

  • Crossroads of Door County Hosts Various Progams

    Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities throughout June. “Know the Enemy: Buckthorn Eradication Workshop” will be held June 10 at 9 am.

  • Ellison Bay Hosts 45th Annual Olde Ellison Bay Days

    Ellison Bay’s 45th Annual Olde Ellison Bay Days Festival will take place June 24 – 26. This year’s theme is “Come Join the Fun Up Nort.” Nik Garvoille, creator of the popular “Up Nort” cartoon, which appears in the Peninsula Pulse, will serve as Grande Marshal of the Festival Parade beginning at 11 am Saturday morning, with free balloons for all.

  • Ephraim Celebrates 2011 Fry Bal Festival

    Ephraim will celebrate their Fyr Bal Festival June 17 – 19. New activities at the 47th annual event will include amusement rides throughout the weekend in north Ephraim, waterfront Zumba at Anderson Dock at 9:30 am on Saturday, and Wilson’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor’s first annual Ice Cream Eating Contest outside the restaurant at 11:30 am on Sunday.

  • The Ridges of Door County Offers Various Hikes and Programs

    The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor will continue its regular schedule of bird hikes on June 11 with two hikes: a “Discovery Bird Hike” at 6:30 am and a “Not So Early” birders hike at 9 am.

  • Sister Bay Celebrates Jumpin’ June

    Sister Bay will celebrate Jumpin’ June, sponsored by the Sister Bay Advancement Association, on June 11. The formerly named ‘Blossom Fest’ will now feature outdoor sports in Waterfront Park.

  • The Lautenbach Woods Nature Preserve

    The Door County Land Trust is celebrating 25 years of preserving Door County’s finest open spaces and wild places. Over the course of the summer and fall, this column will feature one of the special places the Land Trust is working to protect.

  • Good Cause, Good Time

    The Ride for Nature supports a good cause, but with an expanded post-ride celebration in 2011 it’s also sure to be a good time. The June 18 festivities centered around 100, 50, 25, and 15-mile bicycle rides along Northern Door’s picturesque back roads will include a post-ride party featuring live music and camaraderie beneath the tent on the lawn in front of the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.

  • Fish Creek’s Heritage Days Celebrates the Outdoors of Door County

    Fish Creek’s Heritage Days slated for June 4 – 12 will feature a variety of outside activities. June 4 and 5 is Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend. The public is welcome to borrow a pole from the Peninsula State Park Nature Center, where they can learn to cast, complete a fish-y craft, and view native fish at the tank display.

  • The Clearing of Door County Offers Hiking Tours Throughout the Season

    The history, folklore and landscape of The Clearing Folk School will be the subject of free interpretive hiking tours of its historic buildings and campus, led by volunteer docents.

  • Crossroads of Door County Presents Various Programs

    Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday, May 28 the Crossroads will host a variety of field trips through the Ridges Sanctuary’s Festival of Nature.

  • Door County Celebrates Safe Boating Week

    To celebrate Safe Boating Week, the Algoma/Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla will have displays set up, sharing safe boating information, and provide free vessel safety inspections from 10 am – 2 pm at the Yacht Works Marina in Sister Bay on May 28 and May 29.

  • Door County’s Peninsula State Park Presents Ranger Rick Geocache

    The Peninsula Two-Step, Peninsula State Park’s newest geocache, combines the fun of a high tech GPS with an active woods walk, as well as the iconic mascot Ranger Rick.

  • Egg Harbor Presents Half-Day Sailing Camp with Door County YMCA

    The Village of Egg Harbor and the Door County YMCA will bring a half-day sailing camp program to the Egg Harbor Beach this summer. Structured as an introduction to sailing, this program will run weekly during the mornings from July 11 – August 5 and emphasize safety, fun and education.
